The non-custodial parent is required to make financial payments to the custodial parent to help assist with the raising of their children. Child support payments generally will include payments that will provide the basic necessities to the child living with the custodial parent.
Children in Rhode Island are entitled to support from their parents until the age of 18, or may continue child support for children attending high school at the time of their 18th birthday and for 90 days after graduation, but in no case beyond the child's nineteenth birthday unless the child is disabled.
